Rose tastings benefiting breast cancer research October 10, 2006
Shingleback McLaren Vale Grenache 2005 Brilliant pink in color, with aromas of rose petals and berries, this award winning wine is filled with fresh flavors. Ripe raspberry is prevalent on the palate, along with a hint of residual sweetness balanced with bright acidity. This wine is perfectly served slightly chilled, paired with spicy dishes or flavorful seafood.
Meeker Pink Elephant Sonoma 2003 This DRY rose is an interesting blend of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, creating a Bright and clean wine with intensity of berry, fruit and floral on the nose. Rich aromas of strawberries, blueberries, violet, red berries and spice and citrus apples resonate through the wine. The taste is of fresh ripe berries and white pepper with a dry, medium body, crisp acidity and soft moderate tannins. Overall a fresh, clean, refreshing, yet smooth and crisp "Dry" Rose.
1+1=3 Cabernet Sauvignon Penedes 2004 Known as a killer dry rose with a bizarre name. Full bodied, rich and quite ample for the style with very ripe watermelon and pomegranate notes. A terrific rose, the 2004 Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon is surprisingly dark-colored for a rose (moderate ruby). Displaying a huge, sweet bouquet of black currants, cherries, and dried herbs, it is a dramatic, bold, exuberant, medium to full-bodied, potent effort designed to be consumed with food rather than by itself. Spicewood 'Bluebonnet Blush' Texas Hill Country Spicewood’s Bluebonnet Blush is a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and the wineries Rose of Merlot. Considered by the wine maker to be a perfect wine to sip by the pool or enjoy on a picnic. This well-balanced, fruity, sweet wine features a floral nose with bright flavors of apricots, peaches, melon, honey, sweet, well-balanced, clean finish. It has about 2.5% residual sugar. Enjoy our Estate Texas Hill Country Bluebonnet Blush with any light food, or try it as a dessert wine with fresh fruit desserts. McPherson Rose of Grenache-Syrah 2005, Texas 2005 Reserve St Martin Syrah Rose, France 2005 A dry rose from the Languedoc region of Southern France.
