Wynns Coonawarra Riesling An elegant, flavoursome wine which has earned a reputation for its premium quality,
consistency and exceptional value. At Wynns Coonawarra Estate, riesling is made to capture as much varietal character as possible in a fresh, light-bodied and easy-drinking wine. Common descriptors when young include
lime, apple and perfume. With bottle age it develops toast, orange and apricot nuances. Perfect with seafood and salads. Retails for $13.99. Rosemount Hill of Gold Shiraz This shiraz has a deep, rich colour immediately indicating an impressive concentration of flavours. On the nose there are lifted perfume and spice aromas with a deep core of plummy, peppery fruit. The palate reveals velvety, ripe, fine-grained tannins, in harmony with the oak and seductively spicy fruit. The finish is rich and long, with cinnamon, cloves and wild fruit notes promising much for a further five to eight years careful cellaring. Rosemount Estate Epicurean Collection GSM Aged for 18 months in American oak, this premium McLaren Vale wine typically combines the rich, spicy flavors of grenache (approximately 50%) with the opulent fruit of syrah (approximately 40%) and firm structure of mourvedre (approximately 10%). The long, perfumed finish with dusty soft tannins lingers in the mouth and promises up to 10 years cellaring potential. Penfolds Bin 389 - Cabernet – Shiraz Created by the legendary Max Schubert (creator of the Penfolds Grange) Bin 389 is often referred to as “Poor Man’s Grange” or “Baby Grange” in part because it is aged in the same barrels that held previous vintage of Grange. First made in 1960, this was the wine that helped build Penfolds’ solid reputation with red wine drinkers. Combining the structure of Cabernet with the richness of Shiraz, Bin 389 also exemplifies Penfolds’ skill in balancing fruit and oak. The nose of this wine displays vibrant aromas of mocha, plum, licorice and oak. Classic rich flavors of blackberry and black current come alive on your palate. This wine is a perfect match for duck, beef or lamb. Devil’s Lair Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon The Margret River is situated on the southern end of the Leeuwin Peninsula in Western Australia. This region is known to produce some of the highest quality wines with elegance, finesse and complexity. Devil’s Lair Cabernet expresses delightful aromas of bramble fruit, cranberry and cassis, with subtle spice to add depth and definition. A full bodies and intense flavor surrounds the palate with rich bramble fruit, plum and chocolate. Spice and cedar wood add complexity to the flavor. A balanced and lengthy palate with silky tannins and natural acidity combines to add structure to this lovely wine. Penfolds Club Port The Touriga Nacional grape is said to be without a doubt, the best grape for making Port. It is a vigorous and robust vine, but produces about half the yield as the other grape varieties. This grape gives Port its deep color and longevity. There are many styles of Port, but two broad categories define Port – bottle aged or cask aged. The two processes produce distinctly different wines. Bottle aged Ports keep their color and generally their fruitiness into their maturity. They are aged for a short time in wood and are bottled without filtration where they are meant to mature. Port is traditionally served with Stilton cheese. Stilton and other blue cheeses set up a counterpoint of complementary textures and flavors, but cheeses like Cheddar and Glouster are also good. In addition, walnuts, chestnuts, cashews, and hazelnuts help bring out the best in port. Desserts based on strawberries, raspberries, cherries, currants or similarly full-flavored fruits, are a natural ally of port.
